What's new in Canada Immigration?

US Visa holders

You, as a foreign candidate, can apply for a nomination from the Alberta Nominee under the Strategic Recruitment Stream – U.S. Visa Holder Category if you meet the following eligibility criteria:


You are currently working in the United States in one of the following temporary skilled worker visa                                  categories:1B,H1-B1, H-1C, E-3.

You have a minimum of one year of work experience in the United States in one of the qualifying visa categories listed above.

You are working in an occupation on the AINP Occupations Under Pressure List for the Strategic Recruitment Stream – U.S. Visa Holder Category

 

CANADA EXPERIENCE CLASS

The citizenship and immigration Canada introduces a new class to become a permanent resident in Canada. Now Students and temporary foreign workers can become permanent residents of Canada.Following applicants will be eligible:

1. Temporary Foreign Workers:As a temporary foreign worker, you must have two years of full-time (or equivalent) work experience in Canada.i.e 37.5 paid hours per week.Your work experience must be gained within three years of filing the application.Applicants work experience must be Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B on the National occupation classification.

Applicant have to fulfil the language requirements.

2.Graduates:The applicant must be a graduate of a Canadian post-secondary educational institution,and have a one year of full-time work experience in Canada after graduation. Such work experience must be achived within two years of applying.

Applicant can get work experience by applying for the Post-Graduation Work Permit after graduation. Work permits may be valid for up to three years with no restrictions on the type of work you can do or where. Work experience under the permit must be at Skill Type 0, or Skill Level A or B under the National occupation classification. Your work experience must be gained within two years of the date of filing the application.

3. Education: The applicant who has taken a full-time Canadian post-secondary educational program of at least two years or a one-year Master’s program  other than a certificates and diplomas and an additional year of education, obtained in Canada, before admission into the one-year program (for a total of two years). Language requirements must be met.

As a result of Bill C- 50, effective from Feb./08, only the applicatians who have atleast one year experience in following occupations or who have arrangeed employment offer will be processed :

Financial Managers, Computer and Information Systems Managers,Managers in Health Care, Restaurant and Food Service Managers, Accommodation Service Managers, Construction Managers, Financial Auditors and Accountants,Geologists, Geochemists and Geophysicists, Mining Engineers, Geological Engineers, Petroleum Engineers,Specialist Physicians,General Practitioners and Family Physicians, Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists,Head Nurses and Supervisors, Registered Nurses, Medical Radiation Technologists, Licensed Practical Nurses, University Professors,College and Other Vocational Instructors, Chefs, Cooks, Contractors and Supervisors, Pipefitting Trades, Contractors and Supervisors, Carpentry Trades, Contractors and Supervisors, Heavy Construction Equipment Crews, Electricians (Except Industrial and Power System), Industrial Electricians,Plumbers,: Steamfitters, Pipe fitters and Sprinkler System Installers,Welders and Related Machine Operators, Heavy-Duty Equipment Mechanics, Crane Operators, Drillers and Blasters – Surface Mining, Quarrying and Construction, Supervisors, Mining and Quarrying, Supervisors, Oil and Gas Drilling and Service,Supervisors, Petroleum, Gas and Chemical Processing and Utilities

Clarification on Continious working experience under Federal Skilled Class

Operation Bulletin 173 issued by Immigration Canada states that the requirement of having at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent paid work experience in the last ten years in “one or more” NOC code in the recent instructions means that an skilled worker applicant may use any combination of full-time or part-time work experience in more than one eligible NOC category in the last 10 years in calculating their one year of continuous work experience, as long as their experience adds up to at least one year. Previous instructions that an applicant cannot make up the one year of continuous full-time employment experience in a series of continuous periods of employment in different occupations that total one year are revoked.

STUDENT PARTNER PROGRAM

Citizenship and Immigration Canada and the Association of Canadian Community Colleges has launced a new program for students from India called Student Partnership Program (SPP). The instructions are issued for applicants who intend to study in particular community colleges.
