If you are referred for any investigation by the Citizenship and Immigration Canada or the Canada Border Services Agency, it means that you may be subject to an admissibility hearing or removal procedure.
Common reasons of investigations
If you or your spouse or any other sponsored person received a letter stating that your sponsor or you are under the investigation, it means that your file with the Citizenship and Immigration Canada is on hold and the CBSA/CIC is investigating your immigration history as they believe that you are in violation of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act or Regulations. The most common reasons of investigations are marriages of convenience, bad faith marriages, divorces of convenience, adoption of convenience, complaints by ex spouse, misrepresentation, criminality, perjury or commission of any other act which makes you inadmissible.
If you are under the investigation, it is possible that you will have to appear for an admissibility hearing which may lead to a removal order. Investigation cases may take more than a year for processing so its better if you can contact the immigration law professionals as soon as possible. We can help you if you are under such investigation. For further information, please contact us by an e-mail.
