Canadian experience class
The Canadian Experience class is introduced with intention to provide an opportunity to temporary foreign workers and international student to become permanent residents of Canada. This class is for applicants who are familiar with Canadian society, job market of Canada, have knowledge of official languages of Canada and have an ability to establish in Canada.
Requirements: Under this class there are two streams:
Temporary foreign workers: Temporary foreign workers who are in Canada can apply for permanent residency if:
- Applicant has at least two years of full time equivalent work experience and
- The work experience must be as a skilled worker which falls in national occupation classification code O, A or B and
- The 2 year work experience must be obtained with in 3 years preceding the date application is made
- The applicant has to establish his proficiency in English or French.
Post-Graduation Stream: International students can apply for permanent residency under this class if establish the following:
- completed a required program of study in Canada as a full time student and obtained a Canadian educational credential.
- Must have at least one year of full time equivalent work experience
- Work experience must be in national occupation classification code O, A or B.
- Work experience must be obtained with in 2 years preceding the date application is filed.
- Must establish the proficiency in English or French
Language proficiency standards:
Applicants are required to provide evidence of language proficiency. Following are approved tests for language proficiency:
English language testing organizations
- The University of Cambridge, Local Examination Syndicate
- Education Australia; and
- The British Council
These organizations conduct the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam.
French language testing organization:
The Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry, which administers the Testd’Évaluation de Français (TEF).
Applicants are required to provide their proficiency in accordance with the benchmarks mentioned below using the Canadian Language Benchmarks 2000 (for English) or Niveaux de compétence linguistique canadiens 2006 (for French):
For applicants with qualifying Canadian work experience at Skill Type 0 or Skill Level A, they must obtain a benchmark of:
- 7 or higher for each of those abilities; or
- 6 for any one of those abilities, 7 or higher for any other two of those abilities and 8 or higher for the remaining ability.
For applicants with qualifying Canadian work experience at Skill Level B of NOC they must obtain a benchmark of:
- 5 or higher for each of those abilities; or
- 4 for any one of those abilities, 5 or higher for any other two of those abilities and 6 or higher for the remaining ability.
